Ok today I happened something I had never seen…. or at least it seems to me. Not a big deal to tell the truth but I note it down just in case it happens to me again.
A customer creates a mailbox on an exchange as it did hundreds of times but, for some reason, this time he tells that all the folders names are in English rather than in Italian (that is my first language) (i.e.. “inbox” in place of “posta in arrivo”). I immediately think that either the operating system or outlook are in English but apparently they are not so. I connect to the exchange server and then immediately verify the language of the newly created mailbox:
get-mailbox -identity “Account Name” | fl
But the language attribute is correct: “it-IT”; Even via OWA the folders names are all in English…. in a Microsoft KB I also read that the folders names, once “initialized”, can not be changed on the server side. I find, however, an article that talks about how you can reset the folders names through Outlook with this simple command:
outlook.exe /resetfoldernames
Since the language of the mailbox appears to be correct I try to run the command on the client and TADA! It Works!
Fanastico! It worked in a snap!
