These are just some of the innovations presented at the online event of vmware (unfortunately I lost half of the event because the video streaming was not working… apparently I was not the only one):
As usual they improved the maximum size of VMs, Now you can create vm with as many as 128 vCPUs and 4 TB of RAM (mi piacerebbe sapere se c’è effettivamente qualcuno che può arrivare a questi limiti 😐 )
New Feature: instant clone, the name is quite clear, it allows you to clone the vms almost instantly! Comfortable within VDI! An example: it is capable of “provisioning” 64 vms in 5 sec
vSan 6: performance greatly improved! It can handle many more iops and offers new features such as rack-awareness that is the possibility of creating fault domains that are nothing more than a group of hosts that have some connection between them, for example: host in the same rack; in this way you can better manage high reliability while maintaining a copy of the data on host unrelated to each other (i.e.. host belonging to rack physically separated)

Snapshots policy: you can now create policies that manage the creation of snapshot, for example, create a snapshot for a group of machines every n minutes while maintaining a maximum of five active snapshot
vVolumes (Virtual Volumes): defines a new container of virtual disks independent from physical storage by moving volume management from storage to virtual machines.
vMotion: big improvements, Now you can also make a vMotion between different vcenters and you can also migrate vms over long distances with up to 100ms of latency.
Fault Tolerance: redesigned from scratch, now protects vms with up to 4 vcpu covering 93% of the applications in production according to vmware statistics.

vCloud Air DR: VMware disaster recovery in the cloud that allows you to manage both the failover and failback of vms.
Integration with OpenStack: the management of open stack has been integrated into vmware webconsole and vmware support will provide customer support for the creation of an OpenStack environment/cloud.
