Yesterday I got this error, I was connected to a single esx 5.0 node.0 update 3, I could not open a newly created vm console in any way, I got this error in the upper part of the window: “The VMRC console has disconnected.. attempting to reconnect”
at the end the solution was simply updating the vsphere client to the latest version available on the vmware website as some previous versions had some problem with windows 8.
Remember to restart your PC after the client upgrade!

Hi Gary, have you tried to completly uninstall the vsphere client (all the installed versions that you have) and then reinstall the latest version for vsphere 5?
One can fix this issue by simply closing vSphere client services from task manager and relaunch it or simply reboot the vSphere client machine
In my case, unfortunately, that was not sufficient 🙁 after some minutes the problem appeared again.
i have the same problem .
finish the processes, reinstall the program .
I have no idea what else can be done to it to solve
